Philadelphia - NCC and Reading Terminal Market

After a 7-month hiatus for multiple purposes, including the lack of time to devote to chronicling our journey, it's time to return to blogging as we begin our audition rotations. This month, we're in Philadelphia, and Aaron and I are attempting to take advantage of our free time to explore the city.
Despite having to take it easy while I'm building back my endurance after surgery, we've managed to hit many of the quintessential "tourist" spots the past few days.

Aaron is a history buff, so the National Constitution Center was the perfect way to spend a recent afternoon. The permanent exhibit is designed in a chronological order with many interactive elements and relics (ha!) from each period. One of the highlights of the visit was viewing a circa-1800s reprint of the constitution, which has to be "rested" periodically due to its fragility.

Another highlight of the week was the Reading Terminal Market. Since opening in 1893, it's served as home to some of the most famous and unique food vendors in the region. The vast market is packed with locals and tourists alike - I was very impressed with my husband's calm as we wove through the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd.

The visit was of our first of several planned, as it's impossible to sample every drool-inducing sight and smell in one sitting. We chose our lunch destination wisely - Dinic's Roast Pork and Beef. The sandwich we split was absolutely delicious, and worth every minute spent in the line wrapped around the corner waiting to order and snag a scarce spot at the counter. 

We went with the classic roast pork sandwich, and added provolone and banana peppers. 

It earned Aaron's grin of approval!

 We've already mapped out our next excursion, which will include the notorious Bassett's ice cream booth and a deli that caught Aaron's eye (and nose). But alas, we were just too full to indulge.
